The Essence vines currently account for 11 hectares selected for their unique character, and essentially the ideal soil for each grape variety and the optimum age of the vines. |
Vinification |
Picked and transported in small trays, the grapes are destemmed, sorted and then transferred by hand to small-capacity oak or stainless steel tanks for a period of pre-fermentation cold maceration prior to alcoholic fermentation. 12 months maturing provides the finishing touch to the creation of what would be nothing more than a selection of magnificent micro-cuvées from each estate, were it not for the blending, a fundamental stage in creating Dourthe Essence. |
TASTING NOTES
Incredibly deep and concentrated in appearance and tinged with purple. Intensity reigns on the complex bouquet, where aromas of ripe fruits meld with delicate, sweet, spicy notes.
This is an impressive wine, initially supple on the palate, yet swiftly gaining in richness and power. The appealing aromatic intensity is underpinned by delicate, silky tannins, while the accompanying freshness supports the wine as it evolves, only to culminate in an exceptionally long finish.
PAIRING
Red meat (beef, lamb), white meat (turkey)
