TASTING NOTES

Fresh, with a pleasant tannic structure, showing flavours of  cherries combined with earthy notes in an intense and complex mouthfeel. With this outstanding Chianti Classico Riserva, the Marquis Mazzei celebrate their notable ancestor Ser Lapo, author of the first official document mentioning “Chianti wine” (December 16th, 1398).

PAIRING

Highly recommended pairing for pasta with game sauce, stews, grilled red meats and mid-aged cheeses.

Vinification

Hand-picked grapes from 15 to 30 year old vineyards in the Chianti Classico area, grown between 250 and 330 meters above sea level.

Fermentation is carried at 26°C to 28°C and maceration lasts between 15 to 18 days.

A 12 months ageing period takes place in French oak barrels (225 lt and 500 lt, 50% new).
