Château Mouton Rothschild was acquired by the Rothschild family in 1853. For many years, although the quality of the wine was widely recognized, the castle was not really invested and received much attention. It was not until 1922 that the family’s grandson Baron Philippe de Rothschild, then only 20 years old, took possession of the castle.
